MEXT Scholarship Program 2027 – Research Students Program (Postgraduates)

This is a highly competitive scholarship. Selection is based solely on merit, regardless of regional background, age, gender, or social status. Each year, approximately three scholarships are awarded to Palestinian students.

Please find attached all documents and forms related to the 2027 MEXT Research Student Scholarship Program:

⚠️ Please Read All Instructions Carefully! ⚠️
For West Bank & Jerusalem Applicants:
  • Submit all required documents IN PERSON to the Representative Office of Japan (ROJ) no later than Thursday, June 4, 2026.
For Gaza Residents in the Strip and Abroad:
  • All required documents must be compiled in a .ZIP file (maximum 10 MB) and sent via email: study@rm.mofa.go.jp  (If your application gets shortlisted, please wait for our instructions later)

🔔 General Notes for All Applicants:
  • Incomplete applications will be disqualified. Use the attached checklist to ensure all items are included.
  • Do not wait until the deadline to submit your application. Once your documents are ready, contact us to schedule a submission appointment 02-2983370.
  • Original documents such as degrees and transcripts will not be returned.
  • Do not use staples; use paper clips instead.

  • You may begin researching Japanese universities, but do not contact any university at this stage.

📝 Important Notes on Filling Out Forms:
  • Certificate of Health (Submission is required after passing the English Exam on June 29th, 2026)
    Can be completed at any local clinic. Must include the doctor’s full name, signature, and stamp.
    (No need for Ministry of Health authentication)
    Do not submit X-rays or test results—just the completed and signed form.
  • Recommendation Form
    Must be filled out and signed by your recommender. Ask kindly for additional 2 copies, seal them in an envelope, and please do not open it.
    If your recommender is abroad, they may email the letter directly to: study@rm.mofa.go.jp from their official institutional email (No Gmail or Yahoo or Hotmail or others).
  • Academic Records
    • If you studied abroad: submit certified copies of your transcripts and graduation certificate from both the Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (These will not be returned.)
    • If you studied in Palestine: submit originals or certified copies from your university only.
  • Field of Study and Research Plan
    • Section 1: Write an essay outlining your academic background, achievements, and relevant experience.
    • Section 2(a): Clearly state your proposed thesis title.
    • Section 2(b): Write a 2 to 3 page research proposal for your intended study in Japan.
      This form is crucial for evaluation and will also be submitted later to Japanese universities to help match you with an academic advisor.
  • Clarification on School Levels in the Main Application Form
    • Elementary School (6 Years) = Grades 1,2,3,4,5,6  (من الصف الأول إلى الصف السادس)
    • Middle School (3 Years) = Grades 7, 8, 9 (الصف السابع، الثامن، التاسع)
    • High School (3 Years) = Grades 10, 11, 12 / Tawjihi (الصف العاشر، الحادي عشر، الثاني عشر أو التوجيهي)
    • Please do NOT provide us with Middle or High School certificates. (الرجاء عدم إرفاق شهادات الإعدادية والثانوية)
